Brad Bakken Race Report - VCHSS Round 4 Blue Ridge

Due to the Loretta Lynn GNCC being canceled I was able to go my first VCHSS race of the season. It was awesome being at a VCHSS and being able to see all my friends in the series. After hearing the GNCC was canceled some of the series regulars put together their own money to increase the Pro purse in hopes to bring out some of the big name pros such as Duvall, Whibley, Hollis, Farhinger, and Moss to name a few; It was one of the biggest Pro lines in VCHSS history.
Off the start I was 3rd into the woods and stayed there until about a quarter of the way through the first lap where I went into the lead. Thad Duvall quickly moved into second place behind me. I kept charging to try and pull away from Thad, putting us far out ahead of everyone. At the beginning of the third lap Thad and I both stopped for gas and I just pulled out in time to get back in front of him. He was putting a lot of pressure on me so I had to keep charging and not make any mistakes. About a mile off the finish he put his wheel in on me but I managed to keep the lead. At the finish we were wheel to wheel and I ended up taking the win. Thad and I were pushing each other so hard we pulled out a lead of 2:35 ahead of Whibley.
The track was one of the best I have ever raced at this event and I could tell the club put in a lot of hard work. Thanks again to all of the people who put up the money to build the Pro purse up and make this one of the most fun races of the year so far.
