I wanted to drop a quick note to share some Gas Gas Offroad racing news from this past weekend.
There was a lot of good racing that went on over fathers day weekend and some of our Gas Gas Offroad team riders were busy putting their machines and themselves through the paces at different events around the country.
This fathers day weekend marked the 6th round of the National Enduro series in Upton, WY. Gas Gas team rider and series regular, Cole Kirkpatrick had a bit of a up and down day. Cole showed good speed in the early stages but suffered through some vision/headache issues that caused him to struggle a bit. After all was said and done he was still able to muster an 8th place overall finish! You can read Coles report here.
Gas Gas Offroad's National Sales Manager, Clay Stuckey also made the trip out west along with his son Zachary for a father's day weekend of trail riding and racing. Clay rode strong all day at the National Enduro, putting his Gas Gas XC300 on the top of the box in the +45 A class! Not too bad for a guy that more than qualifies to compete in the +50 category.
Back east, Jeff Melik contested the ECEA Shotgun Enduro in Grier City, PA. He was able to fight through to take top honors and take home a really cool trophy which is an actual antique shotgun. You can read Jeff's report here.
Going further east, Stephen Edmondson took on the dry and dusty conditions at the third round of the Virginia Cross Country Series which took place in Henderson, NC. After losing the front end in the in the second corner and remounting in last, Stephen gutted it out and worked his way back through the pack to make the pass for 1st on the last lap! He told us that this was one of the dustiest races he's ever done so congrats to Stephen on fighting through those tough conditions to take the win!
Even further (like, wayyy further) east, Christophe Nambotin won both days of the EWC GP of Greece in the E3 class! This was Nambo's first double victory of the year on the ultra competitive world stage. Let's hope he can keep the momentum going for the next round in Romania! You can read all about that here or by visiting the EWC web site.
Back stateside, Aaron Wegner added yet another overall win for the Gasser squad. Aaron was able to nab the top spot at round 3 of the District 14 Enduro Series up in Michigan. He reported that recent rains made for a very challenging course but was still able to come away with the win. Aaron also had this to say: "The final section was a repeat of the first section which meant even rougher trails and deeper ruts. The power delivery on my Gas Gas made it a breeze to carry great momentum in the tight stuff using the tractor-like bottom end and when it opened up I was able to crack the throttle wide open and recieve instant horsepower. I was able to make it through the final section with very few mistakes and like I had done in the morning turned in the quickest time. When the scores were added up I came out on top with a score of twelve. The second place finisher carded a fourteen followed by another fourteen and two fifteen's."
